The Raymer Aquaculture fish store opened to the public on August 8, 2012. Initially, the idea was to sell primarily the two fish species we farm – Arctic char and brook trout – as well as a small inventory of other fish and seafood. Given the popularity and excellent receptivity of the Chaleur Bay community, proprietor Raynald Mercier quickly understood that the little fish counter would become a fish store with a much broader array of products for its loyal customers. In fact, within a few months, Raymer Aquaculture was able to add to its inventory a large number of local products, sourced on our beautiful Gaspé Peninsula, from Matane to Carleton by way of Gaspé and Percé.
One thing led to the next and the product line expanded: Fish, seafood, sushi fixings, various grocery products and a number of ready-to-eat dishes prepared on the premises are now also available.
